Public charter
Last updated: 25 September 2026
Draft, pending legal review. This English page adapts the French public charter at kismain.fr/charte-publique.html, which is the text that binds us. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Where the two differ, the French version prevails.
Welcome. Kismain is designed for the Muslim community, and open to any adult. This charter is the text we would have wanted to read before entrusting our own search to someone.
In short
- We promise neither a marriage, nor a deadline, nor a success rate.
- No one is scored, ranked or sorted by a machine. You cannot pay to be seen more.
- Your trusted guardian (wali) reads your conversations, and you always know who is reading you.
- Calls are recorded, and you know it before you pick up. Video calls never are.
- One payment per season, no subscription: we earn nothing when your search drags on.
- We do not call ourselves "halal" or "certified". We describe our rules and let you judge.
What this charter is worth
This charter is public, dated, and it binds us: you may hold us to it.
It does not replace your contract, which is given to you before any booking and sets the price, the duration and the precise rules of your season. It says what does not change from one season to the next. If one day the service and this charter contradict each other, the service is wrong, and we fix it.
In this text, "we" means Kismain, that is the sole trader identified in the legal notice. "A season" means a closed group of people from the same region, brought together for a period announced in advance, fifty days at most.
What we do not promise
We start here, because it is what will keep you from being disappointed.
- We do not promise a marriage. Nor a union, nor a deadline, nor a success rate.
- We do not guarantee that someone will choose you. Even in a full season, some members will have no mutual choice. That is a possible outcome of the arrangement, not a broken promise.
- We do not verify marital status. You declare it, and you commit to it in writing. We will never say it is "verified".
- We will publish no success figure that we could not demonstrate.
What we forbid ourselves
These are not good intentions. Each of these lines corresponds to something that does not exist in our code, not merely to a display we would have hidden.
No judgement about you
- No score, anywhere: neither of piety, morality, compatibility nor desirability. Neither on your screen nor in our files.
- No ranking of people.
- No analysis of your appearance, your face or your body.
- We guess nothing about you: neither your religion, your health, your origins nor your character, from what you write or from your photos.
- No consequence if you decline someone. A refusal is never shown to the person concerned, enters no measure, and is never held against you.
No manipulation
- No fake profile, no simulated activity, no manufactured scarcity.
- No counter of views, likes, choices received, or of other people's activity.
- No pre-ticked box.
- No paid security. Ever. Verification cannot be bought and cannot be sped up for money.
- No price that rises if your search lasts.
No surprise about your relatives and your data
- No relative chosen in your place. You decide who accompanies you.
- No disclosure to your relatives without your precise agreement.
- No call placed without both of you having asked for it, and no call you would not know is recorded.
- No training of artificial intelligence on your data.
- No resale of your data, no advertising use.
Who reads you, who listens, what is recorded
Both your screens always show the name of whoever is reading you. No machine re-reads your conversations.
| Moment | Who is there | Recorded? | Your allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Written exchange | The two of you, your trusted guardian, and the other person's. Both read the whole conversation. | Messages stay in the service. Its privacy policy says for how long. | Up to three conversations at a time. |
| Voice call | The two of you. Your guardians may sit in live, or listen afterwards. | Yes. You know it before you pick up. | Two hours for the whole season, without giving out your number. |
| Video call | The two of you. Your guardians may sit in, live only. | No, never. There is nothing to replay. | One hour for the whole season. |
| The families' video call | Up to three relatives on each side. Your presence is optional. | No, never. | One hour, in the last twenty days of the season. |
The only automatic check, and exactly what it does
A check happens at one moment only: when you press "send". It applies fixed rules, the same for everyone, without artificial intelligence. It refuses a message that contains a way to reach someone outside the service (a phone number, an email address, a link, the name of another messaging app), a bank account number, or an insult aimed at a person, their origin or their religion. The screen tells you why, and you can rewrite. A refused message leaves no trace.
And us? We read your messages or listen to a recording in two cases only: a report, or your own request.
Why someone accompanies you
Let us say it simply: Kismain is designed for the Muslim community. In this tradition, two people who might marry do not stay alone together.
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked that a relative be present (Bukhari 5233, Muslim 1341). That is where the trusted guardian comes from, and that is why they read. Marriage (nikah) itself is concluded with a guardian (wali) (Tirmidhi 1101, Abu Dawud 2085): your trusted guardian can be that guardian, or someone they appoint. We did not try to work around this with technology. We put it at the centre.
There is also a reason anyone can hear: a private conversation between two people who do not know each other is the most fragile moment of the whole endeavour, and the only one nobody thinks of protecting.
What you choose
The person is yours to choose, entirely: a parent, a father, a brother, a paternal uncle, a religious leader, or someone appointed by one of them.
What we ask you to know before you start
- Your guardian reads the whole conversation, day after day, including the other person's messages. There is no excerpt.
- The choice holds for the whole season: an accompaniment withdrawn the moment it becomes inconvenient no longer accompanies much.
- Depending on your situation, naming a trusted guardian is either a condition for selecting someone or freely yours to decide. Your account tells you which applies to you, before any booking.
- We sometimes call a trusted guardian, at random, to make sure they exist and agree. An invented guardian ends participation.
If you are asked to be someone's guardian
You will read the conversation and may sit in on calls. You will never write in their place, change their criteria, or decide for them. What you read, you keep to yourself. That is all.
What our checks prove
Every member's identity is verified against an official document before a season starts. Nothing else is "verified".
Marital status, faith, character and intentions are declared by each person, and each person commits to them in writing. We say "declared", never "verified", and we never let a display suggest otherwise.
How we make money
One payment per season, announced before it opens, and nothing else. No subscription, no option, no paid visibility.
A subscription earns when you stay. A season ends. We chose the model that earns nothing when your search drags on, so that we never have a reason to keep you waiting.
If no conversation opens for you during a whole season, the next season in your city is on us, with no paperwork.
What we do not claim to be
We do not call ourselves "halal", "Shariah-compliant" or "certified". Claiming such a status would require an authority that has examined us and signs it. That is not the case.
We describe what we do and for whom, and we let you and your family judge. We give no religious lesson and pass no judgement on anyone's practice.
If we get it wrong
Write to contact@kismain.fr. A person answers you in writing, and if the service contradicts this charter, we fix the service.
Complaints and mediation are described in the legal notice.
